ABOUT
Carl
and Karen
Spina placed a
conservation
easement on
their ranch in
Colorado in
2000 and
qualified for
a newly
created
conservation
easement tax
credit in
Colorado. They
became very
familiar with
the
conservation
easement
donation
process and
the credit
transfer
process
through their
donation and
subsequent
sale of their
tax
credit.
They formed
Conservation
Tax Credit
Transfer, LLC
in 2001 and facilitated
the transfer
and sale of
the first two
conservation
tax credits in
Colorado (and
the country)
in 2001.
Since then,
CTCT has
transferred
more than
$120,000,000
of tax credits
in
Colorado.
To date, all
of the credits
that have been
accepted for
transfer have
been sold each
year and none
of the credits
have been
disallowed, in
whole or part,
by state or
federal taxing
authorities.
Carl,
Karen, and
Jody Barbour
decided to
bring their
experience to
Georgia’s new
transferable
tax
credit.
They formed
Conservation
Tax Transfer,
LLC (CTT), a
Georgia based
company with
an office in
the small
historic town
of Madison,
Georgia.
Kristina
Sorensen
joined the
team as
Executive
Director in
November of
2011 and runs
the day-to-day
operations in
Georgia.
Elliott
Davenport and
Ric Felker
joined the
team in
October 2012
as Credit
Transfer
Agents. They
work closely
with
individuals,
professionals,
and
corporations
that are
interested in
purchasing
conservation
tax credits.
As
a team, we
bring our
professional
knowledge and
our enthusiasm
for land
conservation
to every
credit
transaction.
We attend and
present at
conservation
conferences
and
workshops.
We offer our
credit
transfer
experience in
an effort to
help
strengthen
Georgia's
conservation
statutes and
land
conservation
programs.
We are very
involved in
state and
national
conservation
efforts.
We maintain
ongoing
relationships
with officials
at the Georgia
Department of
Revenue, the
Georgia
Department of
Natural
Resources and
the Internal
Revenue
Service with
regard to
conservation
issues. We
keep current
on state and
federal
legislative
processes.
CTT
makes annual
financial and
in-kind
contributions
to Georgia
Land Trusts
and to
landowners, in
the form of
grants, to
help with the
costs
associated
with making a
donation.
